From Carnot to Kloepneckler: The Ideal Engine

The Thermodynamics of Heat Engines, while well known today, took quite a while to develop. What Sadi Carnot began in the 1830's, Otto Kloepneckler finished in 1912, as you'll read below. Perhaps this will give Superstrings theorists, few among whom think their theory will be proven or falsified in their lifetimes, the courage of their convictions to move their applied mathematics, (cough), excuse me, their "Theory of Physics", onward. It's certainly entertaining to we realists to watch them try.
